MAC Address Changer

Project Homepage: http://www.codeproject.com/tools/MacIdChanger.asp

"A freeware program (with source code) that allows you to change the MAC ID of your network adapter." -codeproject.com

Many of the organisations we have come across on penetration testing tasks are lulled into the false sense of security that if they have WEP and MAC address filters set up on their Access Points they are secure.  They are sadly mistaken; WEP is trivial to break and MAC address filters are even easier to get round.

To circumvent MAC address filters we first need to crack the encryption (whether it be WEP, WPA or WPA2), then we need to sniff the WLAN for a valid client MAC address.  Once we have the valid client MAC address we wait for this valid client to leave the WLAN, assume it's MAC (via MAC Address Changer) and we are on the network.

MAC Address Changer is just so simple to use, it's free and weighs in at only 150kb.  Using the tool is as simple as choosing your desired network interface from the drop down box, entering a new MAC address, then hit Change MAC ID and you're done!

STEP 1:

Our original MAC address is 00:20:A6:54:3E:ED

STEP 2:

We change our MAC address to 00:20:A6:45:23:E1

STEP 3:

To reset back to our original MAC simply hit the RESET MAC ID button
