"Wellenreiter is a wireless network discovery and auditing tool.  It can discover networks (BSS/IBSS), and detects ESSID broadcasting or non-broadcasting networks and their WEP capabilities and the manufacturer automatically." -Wellenreiter.net

 

Installing Wellenreiter

 

 

Using Wellenreiter:

 

Ensure your Orinoco card is inserted or Wellenreiter will not start.

 

cd /tools/wifi/Wellenreiter

 

perl Wellenreiter.pl 

 

 

The Wellenreiter GUI will now start:

 

 

 

Wellenreiter is simple to use and simply hitting START will initiate the wireless scan:

 

 

 

More detailed information can be viewed by expanding the active channel and double clicking the appropriate device:

 

 

 

Wellenreiter gives you the ability to save and load captures and also to export data as either a comma separated values (CSV) or Mappoint import format for transfer into the Windows mapping software if an appropriate GPS device is available (requires the installation of gpsd).
